Lily Allen launches vintage inspired collection in Manchester

Following the success of her London boutique Lucy in Disguise, retired pop star Lily Allen headed north last week to showcase her new clothing line, designed with her sister and business partner Sarah Owen.

The range, also called Lucy in Disguise, will be stocked at Harvey Nichols, where the siblings were interviewed by Emma Doyle of Manchester Fashion Network on Tuesday 7th June in front of an audience.

After being asked about the birth of Lucy in Disguise, Lily admitted that she’d originally wanted to own a fancy dress shop, and created the line to suit most body shapes, with the star labelling herself as “a bit wide at the hips.”

The guests of honour, looked amazing in their own label, Lily wore the blue cotton ‘Haight-Ashbury’ whilst Sarah opted for the black party dress ‘Jitterbug’.The audience were served cocktails, and tasty Lollicakes, which were designed exclusively for the event, whilst getting a first look of the clothing before it will be launched in store.

The music for the evening was from Gramophone DJs, whose retro mixes added to the vintage feel of the event.

The collection definitely lives up to expectation with a range of pieces that any fashion fan would love to see hanging in her wardrobe. Fitting in with Lily and Sarah’s shared passion of vintage, each look from the treasure-chest collection is named after a place or a time from a different decade.

The future for Lucy in Disguise is promising with plans to expand the collection, Lily and Sarah hope to one day branch out into accessories and possibly children’s wear. Bad luck for men though, as they don’t see a Lucy in Disguise menswear collection coming anytime soon.

So who exactly is Lucy? Well as the sisters said “A time-travelling fashionista!”

The Lucy in Disguise Ready to Wear Pre-Fall collection is now available at Harvey Nichols Manchester.
